What if the earth is our cage?!

It is the nature of humankind to be free. As long as we don’t know it’s a cage, then we are, from our own viewpoint, free.

However, once we realize that Earth is our cage, we will endeavor to escape it; to become truly free.

Perhaps it is those that desire to explore outer space that have somehow come to realize on a subconscious level, that we are somehow trapped here. By exploring beyond the realm of our planet, they are able to free themselves of the invisible ties that bind them to the Earth.

However, this then in turn spawns another question: what if our solar system is yet another cage in which our planet is imprisoned? And our galaxy yet another cage, and the universe, the ultimate prison holding all within its grasp? Is there a point somewhere beyond the infinite that is the true place called “freedom” for which we need to strive?

I thought about that outer space thing too (also our fascination with stars). 🙂
That’s where I thought religion might come in. Enlightenment, or spirit transcending above this universe and past the pain and suffering of this world into a place of ultimate peace, happiness, and wisdom. No feelings of being confined; total clarity, no confusion or feelings of escapism. Basically, a place of total freedom and ultimate happiness.
But then the universe couldn’t be an infinite, ultimate prison (in most systems).
